Arts on Prescription in the Baltic Sea Region 2023-2025 is an Interreg Baltic Sea Region project co-funded by the European Union.
The project partnership consists of 13 partners from seven Baltic Sea Region countries: Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and Germany.

The aim of Arts on Prescription in the Baltic Sea Region (AoP in the BSR) project is to provide decision makers, public authorities, public health professionals and culture institutions key insights and knowledge about Arts on Prescription.
The AoP in the BSR partnership have jointly developed a generic AoP programme concept, based on existing evidence and best practice. Local and regional public authorities in cooperation with cultural institutions have piloted and adapted the generic concept to partners local context in eight locations across five of the partner countries from november 2023-november 2024.
Additionally, the project partners are ongoingly developing the online Arts on Prescription Guide. The aim of the AoP guide is to assist and support public authorities, public health professionals and cultural institutions to establish and implement AoP programmes, in order to promote mental health and wellbeing in communities. The eight piloting locations share their experiences crossing a broad range of contextual factors and dos and don’ts when piloting and implementing AoP programmes. Research project partners have developed an evaluation framework, which will provide evidence-based insights into implementing strategies in addition to health outcomes and a cost-benefit analysis of AoP programmes. Evaluation report and results are available from June-October 2025.
During 2024, the AoP concept programme will be transferred to other cities and regions via the twinning cities programme. Twinning cities, have had access to the guide and have provided valuable feedback to the guides content.
AoP in the Baltic Sea Region also provides Find a Mentor, a directory of speacialists who can help you further in the field of Arts on Prescription and culture and health.
Additionally, during the final year (2025) the AoP in the BSR partnership will initiate a dialogue with national authorities and health insurance funds in order to improve the structural support and financing possibilities for long-term, sustainable AoP programmes.
